Industrial Lighting

In today’s competitive world,
industrial lighting can make a difference in demands for
better productivity, energy costs, quality and environmental
safety. Industrial lighting encompasses a wide range of
lighting needs and basically commercial lighting is what is
needed to illuminate large areas. You will need lighting not
only inside but for security reasons lighting outside is also
required. You will require good and proper lighting to be able
to see the inventory properly. In case you have shipments or
workers coming at night, you will have to have a proper
arrangement for an evening light system. |
There are a variety of
commercial or industrial lighting options that are available today,
keeping in mind the need for energy saving and low cost lights like
High Bay, Low Bay lights, Flood lights and Wall packs. The light
bulbs available with these lights come in varying degrees of light.
For very fine detailing such as true colors and fine detailing of
products, you might need to use metal halide bulbs while for general
lighting high pressure sodium bulbs. So, with different industrial
units, varying lighting is needed, but there are enough from you to
choose as to what suits you better.
High Bay lights are required and designed
for areas that have high ceilings over 20 feet, and are very
suitable for illuminating large warehouses and manufacturing units.
If you have decided that High Bay Lighting is suitable to your
needs, the next step will be to choose the light bulb which will
suit your warehousing or manufacturing needs. Many types of light
bulbs are available for High Bay Lights like metal halide, mercury
vapor, high pressure sodium and fluorescent bulbs. The High Bay
Lighting is available in two sizes of 16” and 22”. These lighting is
designed such that large areas are properly illuminated with equal
distribution of lights evenly over huge spaces. This proper lighting
in manufacturing units increases productivity and provides
safety.
Low Bay Lighting fixtures are designed to
provide illumination in areas which have a low ceiling height. They
can also be fitted in warehouses and commercial manufacturing units
where adequate lighting is needed for improved safety and
productivity. These lights are optimized to provide adequate
lighting in spaces where the light fixture is less than 20 feet from
the ground.
Usually a High Intensity Discharge Bulb is
used in both High and Low Bay Lighting fixtures. For lighting
outside your warehouse/manufacturing unit for increased security
requirements a flood light on top of a light pole should solve the
problem. Wall packs are good options for lighting the outer areas
specially the back and the side of the building. However,
floodlights provide brighter lights for illuminating larger areas
properly. So, you can use the flood lights for the front areas while
using the wall packs for the sides and the back. Commonly used Wall
Packs have a 175 watt metal halide and a 400 watt high pressure
sodium wall packs. Positioning of the fixtures should be kept in
mind as sometimes wrongly fixed lights create hot spots.
You need to consider the climatic conditions
also while selecting your lighting fixtures. If you are installing
lights where the temperature is usually high, then go in for lights
that are certified and have longer life and are tarnish and rust
resistant. Low quality light fixtures may seem attractive but will
get bobbles and scratches very fast.
So, you have a wide variety of lighting
choice to select one that suits your industrial/ manufacturing or
even ware housing needs completely. Proper illumination provides
safety, security and even increased quality production in your
commercial establishment.
